On the 3rd of July we braved the heat and set out to the park in West Point for the West Point Days celebration. There was a free dinner and lots of entertainment... including face painting and music and a horseshoe tournament and that Chad was in. We stayed in the shade for the most part because once we got out to go play in the bounce houses or get the kids faces painted, we were soaking wet and dehydrated. So once it started to cool down, we started walking around and seeing what there was to do. The girls definately wanted there faces painted and they both wanted butterflies. Then we found a spot to put a blanket down on the grass and waited for the fireworks to start. It was a pretty good shoe. Way better than I'm used to growing up in Winters CA where the fireworks show is nothing more than a 5 minute performance of sparklers in the sky. All in all it was a lot of fun. We'll definately do it again next year but we'll pray for cooler weather.

we didn't see any big fireworks this 4th. we were at my parents and didn't want to walk to the river for the big show. the kids were in bed, so they didn't know what they were missing, but it made me a little sad not to see them.
